Logline

Struggling repo men Han and his workmate Ryan work for a ruthless loan shark, Lana. When Han’s teenage daughter Gina pens a brilliant screenplay, they see their chance to escape their dead-end jobs by turning it into a movie. But with Lana backing the project and shady producer Harry Hardington ready to exploit it, the dream quickly becomes a dangerous gamble. As they dive deeper into the world of film, the line between ambition and disaster starts to blur, testing not just their careers but their relationships and ambitions.

Series Overview

The Script is funny, raw, and heartfelt—a working-class Get Shorty meets The Full Monty with a dash of The Offer. It blends dark comedy with grounded emotional stakes, capturing both the absurdity and beauty of trying to make art when you’re barely keeping it together. Set in contemporary Sydney, the show balances sharp character comedy with a deeper exploration of family, failure, and creative redemption.

Series Summary: At its heart, The Script is a love letter to the misfits who never got their shot and a cautionary tale about what happens when they finally do. Han and Ryan along with their ragtag team fight to get the film made, fix their broken relationships, and outrun the compromises trying to swallow them whole.

The first season ends the night before production begins, giving the illusion of success. The second and third seasons reveal the real challenges of making a film and the personal toll along the way. It all leads to a final, unexpectedly wholesome conclusion where the fractured relationships – father and daughter, exes, friends are healed.

The Script taps into the modern hunger for stories about reinvention, underdog artistry, and chosen family. In a time where dreams feel distant and connection is rare, this show offers both truth and hope with grit, laughter, and heart.
