Logline

The race is on.

A journey of sci-fi fantasy becoming reality. This represents one of the most transformational opportunities for the world and has limited exposure to the man-on-the-street. With varying opinions on EV against combustion engine vehicles, we will pit old transport methods against new in a racing analogy that will bring eVTOL’s (flying cars) into the public eye.

Synopsis

The EV Sky Race is a groundbreaking factual documentary that explores the rapidly evolving world of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and their potential to disrupt and revolutionise urban and regional transportation. From flying taxis to cargo carriers to emergency evacuation, this film delves into the technology, key players, challenges, and societal impacts of this emerging industry. We will journey from the sector’s inception in 2018, touching on key pioneering legacy in aviation, to its current state and peek into its promising future, highlighting how quickly Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is racing towards transforming the way we travel and live.

But we will look at this burgeoning industry through the eyes of advocates of the traditional land and air transportation methods. As an example only, this year saw James May and Richard Hammond racing an EV car against an EV plane as a “Top Gear” style stunt with comments from James May like “I like the electric lifestyle. It’s smooth quiet and polite.” (DriveTribe episode 7/5/25 at duration 12:55).

Our creative inspiration comes from writer Matt Watters (SkyRacers – YA books) who has become an expert on this new technology, along with journalist Jason Pritchard from eVTOL Insights, an AAM globally recognised authority on this new transportation way of life.

Some of the most exciting technology and sporting applications of this new “flying car” is coming from Australia with F1 style racing vehicles being just one part of this story. But our story/journey will take us all over the world to see these new flying cars, while getting opinion, with likely controversial discussion from a variety of high-profile advocates as we go head-to-head with the EV future against “petrolheads”.

We’re transitioning from affection for a 100-year-old institution and car aficionados and inviting the audience to be pioneers in the transition from nostalgic automotive transportation through to a sci-fi inspired vehicle’s new reality.

This is potentially the next most important transitions in transportation since the inception of the car or aeroplane.
